Welcome to The Prairie Drifter Journal. I hope by sharing my short stories and observations about pointing dogs and wild bird hunting that you may share in my life long passion for training and following bird dogs. As a traveling wing shooter, I spend September through January seeking out the best upland conditions and bird populations. The most productive upland bird hunting opportunities in the West exist in the prairie states where the remaining stands of CRP and native prairie grass provide the habitat to support healthy populations of pheasant, grouse, prairie chicken, and quail, hence, The Prairie Drifter Journal.
